Malawi cotton is well known for its high yielding improved ginning outturn and desirably fine quality. Cotton lint is used in textile manufacturing and is sold on the export market. Cottonseed, sold on both local and export markets, is used for oil extraction whose by-product, the cotton seedcake is used in livestock feed production. ADMARC Ltd has three modern ginneries installed in all regions of the country for ginning seed cotton with a capacity of ginning an average amount of 70,000 metric tons of seed cotton every year.
